It was a gorgeous day outside yesterday. We have had a few cooler days so this is a nice surprise. It was feeling like Fall and I thought the summer was over. So I decided to take the dog to the beach. Most of the tourists have gone home so there's not much traffic or people around now. I love it.
Now I haven't been here in quite a few weeks and its changed a bit. First it was weird coming down the walkway. Its on a hill and there was a weird optical illusion. There was the ocean but a layer of clouds on it which made it look like another ocean or waves far off and then blue sky. It wasn't till I got on the beach that it looked normal again. But there's an ocean and now an inland sea.
If you look close you will see ocean, sand and more ocean. It made a large area into a small sea. I had to walk all around it or past it to get to the ocean.
As you can see its quite large and all this changed the sand. There just didn't seem to be an area that was solid. And so with or without sandals it was hard to walk on no matter where I tried.
There's my pooch. I let her off the leash when no one is around. She loves to run. But she hasn't been here in a long time and wasn't listening as well. We are going to have to get back to do this more now. But this walk really tired us both out. I kept going but I noticed her drooling alot. She was beginning to tire before me. I went a bit farther but then thought.......I know I'm going to tire ez today too so we should turn around. We walked to the end of the inland sea a bit then came back.
It was just so gorgeous tho and I wished I had brought a chair with me. I have these lightweight sling chairs that have a carry strap. I think I might put one in my car so I can really enjoy nice days like this. But it was so nice to not be freezing. Ive been on this very beach in August and almost froze to death. And here today it was even nicer than CA. beaches! Today its almost Paradise. I love it here!!!
And when I got home, the most amazing thing happened. I didn't even think we had hummingbirds here, Ive never seen one.....till today. But I was watering the garden........and I use a spray head that gives them a shower so I dont hurt the seedings. A tiny hummer came to drink from it!!!!
I mean he was at the end and worked his way up to me trying to find a way to get a drink. He tried to land on the spray even and got so close to the sprayer, he was literally 2in. from my fingers. I told the lil guy go ahead Ill hold still while you drink. But he flew away.........then came right back and did the same thing. He kept looking at me and I said Ill stay still till your done go for it. He wasn't scared or anything. Blew my mind! I love the critters here...they aren't afraid of me.....or maybe its just that Im happy and they see it and aren't afraid. I dont know. But Im loving this!
Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteHummingbirds are always so cool to see. So cute!
Its nice to hear how much you love your area there.
I miss the Oregon beaches! The day we were in your town last week was gorgeous! Then it began to rain in the night and as we drove south on the coast that day it was stormy - rainy and foggy - and we couldn't see the beaches we passed. I know what you mean about the time after Labor Day when the tourists (people like we are now!) go home and the town and beach is peaceful and quiet once again. We always loved that time of year when we lived at the Coast. Thanks for giving me my 'beach fix' today!

Beautiful beach!! We get to come to Oregon this next spring for an American Missionary Fellowship conference!! I look forward to seeing a beach!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your concern for the little lamp I put on my lamp. It is all mesh looking even on top and the harp of the lamp is tall so the bulb is quite a bit lower then top of shade. Had it on and you cannot feel the heat. I would think that if you had more of a solid top of a hat you should really consider this though before putting it on a lamp! thanks! Will try to make an addition to the post about this!

Oh, you are so blessed to live on the beach! I really miss the beach. I live in west Texas and every year when our children were small, we would all take our journey, south, to Galveston and sometimes, Corpus Christie. Now our children are grown and it has been many years since we have been there. sigh. blessings,Kathleen
