Soon Ill have Eden...

Soon my yard will look like this!

Soon Ill have my Eden. I don't have alot of room to grow even tho I own a half acre. I'm on a hill and most of it is ravine. So I decided to rip out my front (which is actually my side yard that goes to my front door lol) and fence it all in and make raised beds for growing all sorts of things.

I hate what is planted there. Its weedy and wild and not very pretty. There's bamboo planted there and on the side of the house which I want gone. Bamboo is invasive and this looks like it was planted just before I bought so hopefully we can get it all out.

And so the guy was finally here today. My yard has gotten totally overgrown and needs a major bushwhacking. So hes gonna do that first. Hes going to cut all the weeds and grass and get rid of that, then rip out everything else, including the bamboo and haul it away. Then we start from scratch.

Id like something like this as my garden fence. Its light and airy and doesn't block the view. They sell deer fencing like this so we can use that.

He is going to build a fence all around this area for me. I want cedar posts filling in with deer fencing. I think the open wire look will keep it looking a bit wild since I can still see everything in the yard. He wanted to put fence posts with small spaces but I think that will take away from my view from my back windows so I said no.

It wont be like this, will be raised beds with the fence on top of it but it will be layered like this.

Hes going to build me raised beds in the back on the one flat area I have and then make another below it so it will be terraced. That's the sunny side of the house and I think tomatoes and peppers and such will do awesome back there. Hes going to build a gate going out to the grassy yard tho so we can mow it.

The rest hes going to rip everything out and make me raised beds.  I will have to draw up something to show him where I want them and hopefully it wont be too expensive. He wanted to save me money using pressure treated lumber and I said no. I said that stuff leeches chemicals into the dirt and then into the food. I intend to grow organic so I want nothing like that. We will be using cedar instead. I'm also afraid with those chemicals and being on a hill they will run down into the lake. I want to keep this land as nice as it is now....fresh and clean.

And so if he comes back with a decent price for all this I may have him build me a couple raised beds in the front yard too. He wanted  to do it hourly and I said no. I want a price. I don't like hourly it tends to run into too much money. I need to know so I can budget. So he will be back in a couple days and give me prices and if it sounds good.........Ill be on my way to starting my Garden of Eden.
