This is my new fireplace. I don't much like it and would like to perk it up a bit. I really miss having a mantel and such but unless I can find a way to have one made, for now this is it. I would like Rose to be on it.
So my question is .......should Rose be on the fireplace? And should Rose be horizontal or vertical? And should Rose be painted, if so what color?
Here she is lying across the top and also standing up on my new fireplace.

So which way do you like it the best?
I left a comment and it disappeared! I'll write it again - if the first one shows up you can delete this one.
ReplyDeleteI like Rose vertical to help hide the stovepipe. Some homes have a fireproof surround on the walls behind the stove with a mantel at the top. We had one in another home - ours was made of brick and the mantel was a wider brick. I had all kinds of things that weren't flammable - iron things, tin, all metal. It was fun to find things to change it once in awhile. You could even have some glass floats from the beach if you wanted them.

Hey, seanymph - I saw you on Donna's blog. I like rose & your fireplace, but I don't think they really complement one another. Can you give us some more options for rose - it's sure a pretty piece. (Leave me a comment if you have some other ideas.) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWell I dont want them to complement each other lol........I want the fireplace to not look so stark. Since I cant do anything to it........I thought adding something might help. I had a cast iron stove insert in my old fireplace and this was lying across the top of it there. My house is soft and feminine but not all pink and white. Its oak and blue and white and sort of country. I hate that pipe on this piece and thought Rose looked good there, better than looking at that awful pipe.
