Who thought cleaning a stove could be so easy?

This really works. I recently read that putting your burners and such from your stove in a bag with a bit of ammonia overnight would get them clean without scrubbing. I know I tried this yrs ago and somehow it didn't work for me. I must have done something wrong I guess.

And so I tried it yesterday. I put that one burner in a zip lock bag with a tb or so of ammonia and sealed it. They said you don't need much cuz the fumes are what do the work. I put it outside on the porch just in case it leaked. That stuff stinks. I just remembered it tho and went out to see what happened.

When I looked at the bag, the burner looked the same. When I brought it to the sink tho and opened it......I dumped it out and tried to scrub it. OMG it didn't need to be scrubbed tho. The stuff just flaked off ez. There were one or two spots that were stubborn that I scratched at with a knife and they flaked off too! Look at the difference there between two, one clean, one not. I will be doing this from now on. I hate scrubbing. This is amazing.

UPDATE:
I love this stuff! I had to redo one seriously icky burner but this time stuff was flaking off with just the water spray. Some things do stick and need a bit of steel wool. My burner pans were seriously bad. So bad I took to covering them with foil.
I have double burners so I do one at a time so I can still cook. So the one I cleaned today was the one I use the most. Seriously stuck on stuff that even steel wool wouldn't get off.......until I did it this way. The burner pan looks like new and I will never have to let it build up like this again. Its just so ez to clean, Im amazed.

  1. Great information! Thanks for the tip - will try it one of these days.

I was in your town briefly yesterday! Went to see a dear friend who is not doing well. Lunch in Depoe Bay - time in Newport - supper at Newport Mo's and then home. Thought of you as I spent a few minutes on the beach at Dory Cove. Will return one of these days so you and I can get together!
