We have had alot of wild weather here the last few days. The wind whipped this new house really hard. But I was very pleased to find out I bought a good sturdy home. I live on top of a hill so I figured we would get hit hard. And there are many very old and very tall trees around the house. This worried me with almost hurricane force winds that we were getting. But this little house withstood all this. It didn't shake like some houses do when the wind hit. And the windows didn't rattle either. I was amazed at all this. I wasn't worried, just curious as to what would happen. The porches outside made most of the noise but even they are still standing with no damage. This happened to me once before in a new house about 10yrs ago. And so I wrote a blog about this on another site I'm on. And a gf commented:
"You say it happened when you moved once before?? Hmmm..
sure sounds as though.. you have a spirit.. who is letting you know..
no matter HOW harsh the storm.. YOU and YOUR HOME WILL SURVIVE!!! Take
heart!! The rainbow's coming GF!!! The rainbow's COMING!! Just nature's
way of blessing you!!"
And the very next day, the rainbow came! And it was a
beauty. I ran to get my camera and it was already fading but it was a
full one and strong colored too. I could see the other end thru the
woods here it was so colorful. Wow, what are the odds that she types
that one day and it happens the next lol.
Today I did nothing but clean up all the stuff I had from the boxes. These guys packed anything that would fit in them but didn't label them as such. So I have lots of odds and ends that were all over the kitchen and dining room making me nuts. I told Kurt its like when you see a busy painting and you can't focus on it at all. I knew that's whats been really bugging me here so today was clean up day for all that crap. Its been repacked into boxes that will be tossed in the garage till I figure out what to do with it. At least now I can enjoy the kitchen and it looks like a real house. In fact tonight I made Beef Stew and biscuits.
This is my dining room. I'm using the oak entertainment ctr. for my hutch now. Still have to pretty up the shelves but for now its got all the stuff I need to store, china, glasses, platters, etc. I have a pretty blue rug on order but it won't arrive till March. I still want to order a really nice chandelier for this spot. There's a dome light on the ceiling between two skylights. It looks stupid.
This is the living room and other than putting some furniture in, I've only emptied some boxes. For now I have a pink sheet on the white couch. I don't want my dog on it till I get a slipcover. But that's just in case she jumps up on it when we are out. With all this rain she has wet, muddy paws. So for now she's on the blanket on the floor. I need to find her other dog bed to put in here.
Nothing has changed here in our room. A few less boxes but I haven't done anything else yet.
Here's where I sit when I'm on the computer. This is the big half of the desk. I had planned on putting both parts on this wall but didn't realize just how big it was when we put it there. There would be no room to get to the other rooms. So I'm here and Kurt has the rest in his music room.
This is the spare room. Nothing has changed in here but me adding more stuff that I don't know where to put just yet.
I feel much better now that the extra stuff that was all over the place is gone. Now I can do a box at a time and feel the peace I was looking for when I moved here. I open up the blinds that overlook that view in my living room and it's like being in heaven.
Let us know when the last box is gone!
ReplyDeleteGood luck in unpacking and getting set up.
ReplyDeleteWe have the same dining room table. My chairs are different, though.
Wow, Looks like you've settled in nicely. the kitchen looks very inviting.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Oregon!!! You did it - you really did it! When we first met on our blogs you were hoping to come this way and now it's so great to see your gorgeous, new home. Can't wait to see all the things you do inside and outside. Even though I'm in the Valley it's not far to the Coast so we're neighbors. In a neat kind of way!
